ADMISSIONS/ WILL CALL

Description

Welcome spectators through the tournament’s entrance gates. Scan tickets and assist with spectator entry onto the course. Respond to miscellaneous spectator inquiries.

CADDIE SERVICES

Description

Oversee Caddie Hospitality by assisting with registration, distributing towels, and preparing and issuing caddie bibs. Ensure bibs are returned daily.

CORPORATE HOSPITALITY

Description

Welcome spectators to corporate hospitality venues. Scan access passes and provide applicable wristbands. Answer miscellaneous spectator questions primarily related to directions and facilities.

GOLF CARTS

Description

Allocate and manage golf carts for PGA TOUR Champions Staff and Volunteer Leadership. Maintain a sign in/sign out sheet for the week and place cart signage on individual carts. Ensure cart keys are returned and carts are charged and cleaned daily.

  • Customer service-oriented position.
  • Must be age 18 or older with a valid US issued driver’s license to operate a golf cart.

Saturday, March 23 – Sunday, March 31

HONORARY OBSERVERS

Description

Assist spectators participating in the Honorary Observers Program which allows them to walk inside the ropes with golf professionals during the tournament. Meet participants prior to their assigned tee time, coordinate credential distribution, review program guidelines and restrictions and guide them to the tee box. Coordinate photo signing and distribution process when participants reach the end of 18-holes.

MARSHALS

Description

Provide gallery and noise control on course, assist in player movement, help locate errant golf shots and provide spectators with general information as needed. Marshals are also responsible for assisting with the movement of players on and off the course due to weather delays or whenever deemed necessary. Will also include Distance Measuring where you record the yardage of the processional’s ball using a scoring device provided by the PGA TOUR.

  • May require standing for long periods of time in addition to walking.

VOLUNTEER SHUTTLES

Description

Provide cart transportation for volunteers around the golf course.

STANDARD BEARERS (ALSO OPEN TO YOUTH, AGES 13-18)

Description

Accompany each professional grouping during play and display their scores on a standard sign.

Considerations

  • Must be able to carry a standard sign (approx. 5-7 lbs.).
  • Must be able to walk 18 holes without a break.

SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION

Description

Distribute beverages and snacks to locations on the golf course, starter tents, scoring, practice range, media center, volunteer village, and other designated areas.

Considerations

  • Must be age 18 or older with a valid U.S. issued driver’s license to operate a golf cart transporting supplies.
  • Must have ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Days of Operation

Start on Tuesday, March 26

TOURNAMENT HOSTS

Description

Serve as the on-site welcoming committee for spectators. Greet spectators at various locations and assist them with navigating the course and reaching their desired location. Answer miscellaneous questions.

TV CHANNEL SPOTTERS

Description

Relay tournament play information, such as what each player lies and what player is hitting next, to PGATE staff.

Considerations

  • This committee requires golf knowledge and ability to walk the course (keeping pace with assigned group).
  • Volunteers must be able to work entire day (approx. 6 hours).

VOLUNTEER VILLAGE

Description

Manage tent where volunteers check in for their respective committees as well as come for snacks & beverages in between their shifts. Maintain a clean and supportive meeting place for the volunteers.

WALKING SCORERS

Description

Record the scores and statistics of play on handheld PDA devices during the Pro-Am and all competition rounds. Must be able to walk 18 holes without a break. Volunteers will receive training on how to use the PDA device.

For those interested in volunteering in the mountains of Northern California, here is a great experience:
Volunteer at the 2024 Barracuda Championship, July 15–21, 2024 at Tahoe Mountain Club’s Old Greenwood.

No golf experience is required.

Training will be provided for all volunteers.

Volunteers will receive:

  • A polo shirt
  • A hat or visor
  • Lunch each day

Access to exclusive volunteer appreciation events.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson Volunteer Registration Is Now Open


Each year, the success of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson is dependent on a team of 1,300 volunteers who help support the tournament. From transporting players to working at corporate venue admissions or supporting the competition, there are over 15 committees to choose from.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR A VOLUNTEER: 
  • All must be a Minimum of 18 years of age or older. 
  • Available to work at least three shifts between Sat. 4/27-Sunday 5/5. 
  • Typical shifts run from beginning of play until end of play each day. 
  • Flexible in volunteer assignment. 
  • Ambulatory to walk 18 holes or stand for long periods of time. 

Registration is open to the public; you could be considered for any area that still has openings. Thank you for volunteering and ultimately helping Momentous Institute, the sole beneficiary of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Momentous Institute exists to build a world of emotionally thriving people through innovative mental health services, education, and professional training. Momentous Institute directly serves over 7,800 children and families each year through its nationally acclaimed Momentous School and innovative mental health services. By volunteering, you are helping to make a difference in someone’s life.

The Classic in The Palm Beaches Volunteers


The Classic in The Palm Beaches volunteer registration has been opened. Over 1,600 volunteers make this PGA TOUR tournament possible.  The tournament will be held at PGA National Resort - Champions Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida from February 26 - March 3, 2024.

Volunteers will be needed for many committees.  Here is just an excerpt of the committee list. Please see the official volunteer website for all committees and their respective descriptions:

  • Admissions
    • Ticket sales and credential scanning at tournament entrances. Issue proper credentials to members of military and allied organizations. One weekend day is required for all volunteers.

  • Advance / Player Transition
    • Assigned to a group of players to accompany them for the entire eighteen holes. Walk ahead of the players to ensure access to tee boxes, cross walks, and green’s exits are properly staffed and there is nothing impeding access to these areas. Must be able to walk eighteen holes. One weekend day is required for all volunteers.

    • PLAYER TRANSITION TEAM: Escort players through transition areas which include the Putting Greens, 1st & 10th tees, 9th & 18th greens and player clubhouse. Assist with course evacuation as needed.

  • Caddie Services
    • Register professional caddies, maintain caddie area, distribute/collect/wash caddie bibs & towels. One weekend day is required for all volunteers.

  • Cart Control
    • Maintain and distribute golf carts, including charging/preparation of carts for the next day. Shifts begin at 5AM. One weekend day is required for all volunteers.

  • Childcare
    • Assist the PGA TOUR staff in providing childcare for the children of the players. Background checks required; must be at least 18 yrs. of age. One weekend day is required for all volunteers.

  • Communications
    • Answer incoming calls, provide information, take messages & transfer calls to other areas. Organize radio distribution. Manage daily radio check-out, check-in, charging & training on proper radio use. One weekend day is required for all volunteers.

  • Competition Support
    • Shotlink Mobile Spotters (SMS) locate and flag shots, assist with ball flight tracking from tee, and relay pertinent information to the PGA TOUR Scoring tech.  SMS should be physically able to walk/stand for the duration of their shift.  A one-hour online training course, a one-hour in person training session, and an on-course training on Wednesday of tournament week, are required.  Volunteers must sign a Disclosure Form. One weekend day is required for all volunteers

In 2024, the PGA TOUR season will start in January (no wrap-around season anymore) and end with the playoffs end of August. September will feature the Presidents Cup in Montreal, Canada, before the Fall Season starts.
