Fort Worth Invitational Volunteer Experience

We just wanted to give you all a brief summary of our experience at the Fort Worth Invitational, where we volunteered for the very first time this Memorial Day (2018) weekend.

It was quite fun to go to a tournament at such a great Country Club. As of 2018, Colonial Country Club host the longest standing PGA TOUR tournament at the same venue, going back to 1954. Since Player Transportation is our favorite committee, we decided to sign up for it and learn, how the team runs transportation at this event. That meant, driving, waiting and meeting some really great committee volunteers. Everyone was so welcoming and we enjoyed meeting everyone over the course of our volunteer days (mid-Friday till Sunday). Surprisingly, there was little to do on Monday (just by virtue of how the committees are setup at the Fort Worth Invitational), so we got a chance to actually 'play tourists' on Monday (Memorial Day) and visited the Stockyards just North of town.

Sunday, when it was a bit slower in the morning, we also hung out with Jordan Spieth at the practice green (see below, he's hard to see though).

When you come and visit (or volunteer) at the tournament, you will certainly meet a lot of nice people and the atmosphere is very Southern and friendly. For the very first time, we also saw a (probably quite typical) sign, that we usually know as the 'QUIET' sign. Here at Colonial, it has a special touch and we couldn't resist to take a photo.

All in all, we really had a good time in Texas and wouldn't mind heading back there some day and enjoy the Southern Hospitality. To add to that, the food at the concession stands, where Fort Worth Invitational volunteers could use their lunch vouchers at, was definitely at the top of our list of favorite tournament concession stand food. The food served in the volunteer tent was really good as well. Definitely another good reason to return.

If you want to know more, feel free to contact us or read more about the Fort Worth Invitational, that from 2019 on will have a new title sponsor, since Charles Schwab announced a multi-year title sponsor involvement.
