Fort Worth Invitational Volunteer Experience

We just wanted to give you all a brief summary of our experience at the Fort Worth Invitational, where we volunteered for the very first time this Memorial Day (2018) weekend.

It was quite fun to go to a tournament at such a great Country Club. As of 2018, Colonial Country Club host the longest standing PGA TOUR tournament at the same venue, going back to 1954. Since Player Transportation is our favorite committee, we decided to sign up for it and learn, how the team runs transportation at this event. That meant, driving, waiting and meeting some really great committee volunteers. Everyone was so welcoming and we enjoyed meeting everyone over the course of our volunteer days (mid-Friday till Sunday). Surprisingly, there was little to do on Monday (just by virtue of how the committees are setup at the Fort Worth Invitational), so we got a chance to actually 'play tourists' on Monday (Memorial Day) and visited the Stockyards just North of town.

Sunday, when it was a bit slower in the morning, we also hung out with Jordan Spieth at the practice green (see below, he's hard to see though).

When you come and visit (or volunteer) at the tournament, you will certainly meet a lot of nice people and the atmosphere is very Southern and friendly. For the very first time, we also saw a (probably quite typical) sign, that we usually know as the 'QUIET' sign. Here at Colonial, it has a special touch and we couldn't resist to take a photo.

All in all, we really had a good time in Texas and wouldn't mind heading back there some day and enjoy the Southern Hospitality. To add to that, the food at the concession stands, where Fort Worth Invitational volunteers could use their lunch vouchers at, was definitely at the top of our list of favorite tournament concession stand food. The food served in the volunteer tent was really good as well. Definitely another good reason to return.

If you want to know more, feel free to contact us or read more about the Fort Worth Invitational, that from 2019 on will have a new title sponsor, since Charles Schwab announced a multi-year title sponsor involvement.

Ryder Cup 2018 approaching in a few months

The Ryder Cup 2018, this time played near Paris, France, is approaching fast.  Get ready and outfit yourself or your friends with some cool stuff.

The captains of the 2 teams still have time to evaluate possible additions to the more than likely squad, but that's not going to be an easy task. Some hard decisions have to be made. Besides the Presidents Cup, this (the Ryder Cup) is one of the most watched international golf events and we are all excited about the match-up between Team USA and Team Europe.

Charles Schwab Cup Championship confirmed to be played at Phoenix Country Club for the next 10 years

Exciting news hit the wire:  The Charles Schwab Cup Championship is confirmed to be played at Phoenix Country Club for the next 10 years!

What will that mean for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship Transportation Committee?   We already have one tournament - the 2017 PGA TOUR Champions season finale - under our belt and are SUPER excited to return this fall - and many years after - to run our operations with the wonderful team on-site (PGA TOUR's Championship Management staff, volunteers and club members).

Charles Schwab Cup Championship Volunteer Registration Now Open

It is already Spring 2018 and it’s time to think about the 2018 Charles Schwab Cup Championship Volunteer Registration, which is open now. We love going to Phoenix and spending 10 days in early November in the desert town.  This year (2018), the tournament format will go back to 4 days of competition, which will add even more excitement to the last tournament of the PGA TOUR Champions season. Read more about our favorite committee, Player Transportation, where Andreas will be Chairman again.

Going to the Fort Worth Invitational at Colonial Country Club - YAY

This will be our 1st time, that we will volunteer at the Fort Worth Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth, TX.  We are so excited, since we will be able to help out in our favorite committee: Player Transportation.  Due to our schedules, we can only be in Fort Worth from Friday till Monday of tournament weekend, but are looking forward to meeting nice new volunteers and catching up with friends nevertheless. We will post on Social Media and here on the Blog while we are at the tournament. Stay tuned for more and check our our (current) schedule for the remainder of 2018.

PowerShares QQQ Championship Volunteer Bonus Golf

One of the perks of being a PowerShares QQQ Championship Volunteer is, that you may be drawn for some 'bonus golf' - a free round at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, CA.

We had the opportunity on Monday, March 5th 2018, and were able to play 18 holes at Sherwood CC with some of our fellow Committee Chairmen and other volunteers, that were drawn in a lottery. Overall - split up into 2 golf days - over 140 volunteers got to play the course, that is almost impossible to play, if you are not a member or a pro.  Thank you to the PGA TOUR Champions Tournament leadership for making this happen.
